There’s only one forecast pilots need. It’s more specific than a prog chart. It’s more comprehensive than the GFA. It’s updated in real time. It works hourly out to seven days in advance. And it’s only available in 8Flight.
6 years ago when the world was shutdown. I watched YouTube videos and found @mattguthmiller
He inspired me by exploring awesome areas.
This airplane was 22k dollars. Stop the excuses on why you don’t fly.
if you’re close to here, get that root beer. #route66
Ah, yeah so they probably either still had one at that point (maybe with something else weird going on with the remaining engine if they were expediting things — normally an engine out is no big deal), or were just doing the closest thing to what they know.
One time I had some extra time on an L-39 intro flight with a student who flew a TBM and had done some training with the same ex-Air Force guy I’d done a TBM checkout with, so I assumed I could walk him through an SFO at the end of the flight even though we hadn’t discussed it — he had no idea what I was talking about. Apparently the sim training org he’d done most of his TBM stuff with just taught some sort of high-drag straight in (which to be fair is basically what you do in gliders too, but that’s pretty different). Point being though, even a lot of turbine *single* guys wouldn’t know how to do an SFO.
@Dimillian Doesn’t work, is 700MB, but yet still uploads all your screenshots to their servers without telling you… Honestly sounds terrible and terribly vibe coded.
@Austen Saw this all over the WISP community when Starlink launched — guys like “yeah but that motorized dish will never hold up under snow and wind loads” like they didn’t build rocket nozzles that gimbal precisely while producing half a million pounds of thrust.
