One thing that is certain about the coming election is that it will result in a change in presidential administration and the makeup of Congress. I'm hoping that whoever governs in 2025 will prioritize AI regulation before the horse is out of the barn.

I will be teaching the agent-based model track at the Systems Science for Social Impact training institute again this summer. Please share with anyone who might be interested!

I started work on this almost a year ago. Since then, several health care AI tools have been developed. Such AI applications have yet to be widely adopted-- hopefully research like this can ensure that when they are (and they will be), they do no harm.

I've been working on this project for a few years. We started before the pandemic, which has made this issue much more urgent. Glad to see initial results out, and hoping that I'll get to keeping working on this research with my colleagues in Seattle.

I think that the simulation tool that we built has a lot of potential to design effective, context-specific health intervention in communities across the country.

Economists don't typically study things like "hope" and its dark opposite, "despair." This is a nice argument as to why they should.

I always appreciate the opportunity to contribute to a field with which I was previously unfamiliar. I am incredibly proud of this evidence review and hope to follow up with work that guides concrete action to reduce violent conflict in our world.

Seeing a lot of Twitter activity about someone named Taylor Swift. What House seat was she running for? And am I right to gather Ticketmaster voting machines are less reliable than Dominion?
@James_S_Murphy I think there is a lot of untapped potential for focusing on equity prior to college admissions, especially after COVID disruptions to education.
The Supreme Court is likely to severely curtail-or completely eradicate-race-based college admissions policies, with implications for both public & private higher education institutions across the country - see @adamliptak’s useful summary: https://t.co/wQv0sHiIC3
I am not suggesting that this will be easy or quick. However, investing effort here seems the best course of action should race-based affirmative action in college admissions be abrogated in whole or part.
Intervening earlier in a person’s life is almost always more effective than trying to do so later; “a stitch in time saves nine” and “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” are common adages for a reason.
