@ToryFibs I wouldn't even call it a tax. It's basically a type of social insurance. It is massively mismanaged in the in UK. It should be run as a sovereign wealth fund used to invest in nationalised public services, businesses and the profit and dividends returned to pay us all a pension.
@garfieldbear90@PoliticsPollss Disagree. If people’s salaries are not going up it's pretty predatory taking 40% - 50% of thier salary, especially with inflation so high, and especially as inflation is caused by a concentration of those holding assets, like homes. So there needs to be some kind of a limit.
As the ill informed from Badenoch down scream cut welfare - here is the illustration to educate on the fake numbers that are screamed by the right.
They never mention literally
48% of the Welfare budget is pensions
14% is disability (inc PIP which is not means tested)
27% in Universal Credit (including 40% in work)
Yet the targets are always the two lower categories
@Socket1Sophie Right, but this the far-right ethno-nationalist groups like EDL, Raise the Colours, Britain First etc. hounding out self proclaimed neo-nazis luke White Vanguard so they themselves can say they are not racist.
@TheGinger0ne@PoliticsPollss Yeah. I did. I read from all perspectives and made my own educated opinions from looking who has something to gain from each stance.
@TheGinger0ne@PoliticsPollss Well, I seriously think you, and the vast majority of people, need to educate yourself on economics. Read up on Neoliberalism, what caused the Great Recession, Modern Monetary Theory, Keynesian Economics and Roosevelt's New Deal. There's a lot of misinformation out there.
@TheGinger0ne@PoliticsPollss You didn't watch those videos, did you? Where do you think the money comes from and why do you think it needs to be paid back?
I think you believe the neoliberal explanation of economics, which is:
a) extremely flawed
b) based on lies and
c) the source of most of our problems
Andy Burnham looks like he might cancel the NHS England contract with Palantir, they also have one worth 2.5x as much with the MoD.
RT if you want them both out of the UK.
@PoliticsPollss Vitality does this. If you do a certain amount of exercise you get free coffee, cinema tickets etc. This would likely save the NHS billions in treatment costs.
@TheGinger0ne@PoliticsPollss Taxes don't fund Govt spending, it's to control inflation. Yes, working people pay too much tax and the wealthy don't really pay anything, but essentially we could afford to do this and it would save NHS billions.
