I like making Internet things; currently using F#, previously Python.
All opinions are my own (sorry in advance).

@LuisAzcona @Rainmaker1973 A nerd is just a description of someone interested in math(s), science, or other well-defined areas.
A geek is someone interested in that or anything else.
Please pick any, wear it proudly, and destroy any gatekeepers.

It's still mind-blowing what a big difference having a serious context-of-use makes for learning something new (tool, body of knowledge, etc.)

Sitting down and saying "I'm going to learn this now" vs. "I NEED to learn this for important thing X"

[MattMS @MattMS]

@RealSexyCyborg You are totally correct, and Australia has felt just as bad (if not worse) for my entire life.
It is getting worse now because people think it is more acceptable and I fear it will take a long time to fix.

I'm looking for a 17-inch "repairable" laptop that will last me at least 10 years. This laptop will mainly be used for programming. I will consider buying refurbished. Any recommendations?

Deployment successful.

@Foone I will too. It is a sad time, but I hope the future is brighter through federation. May your backup and restore process be painless and consistent.

Now is the time for Google++

@JessicaRobot @griph @FossilLocator I misread that as "destiny cubes" and think I'll stick with it

@RealSexyCyborg @A_short_handle The worst we had in Tasmania was avoiding gatherings between households for a few weeks. I think that's fair when trying to save lives. It's not like we're isolated when we can do a video call at any time.

[MattMS @MattMS]

@RealSexyCyborg I chose to do 10 days of living in our bedroom (with masked bathroom breaks) so the lovely @A_short_handle didn't get COVID-19. I would gladly do it again to save others.

I'm quite happy to have been the duck for my workmates over the years.

@katafrakt_pl @gregorywitek @GergelyOrosz Kind of, Atom was built by GitHub, MS forked Atom to make VS Code and then bought GitHub and discontinued Atom. So it was more business strategy than innovation.

@dsymetweets We should always celebrate the hackers that bend the tools to their will like this. Thank you

[MattMS @MattMS]

@plainionist @pragprog It's about that time since I've been in my current job, that introduced me to .NET, and when I started F# as my side interest. I'm still constantly amazed by it.

[MattMS @MattMS]

@isaac_abraham I do get a lot of joy when finding a core function that plays nicely with F# like this.

@TwitterDev As you learn new things and get excited about them, it can be frustrating not to use them when others are hesitant and dangerous to use them where others can't maintain it.
