CONGRATULATIONS to Keri Pilgrim-Ricker, the 2019 Oregon State Teacher of the Year! Keri brings great intentionality, dedication and ingenuity to to her work with students and colleagues at Churchill HS in Eugene, Oregon.
At Oregon Nikkei Endowment Banquet tonight met John Tateishi, former National Redress Director of Japanese American Citizens League. John fought racism and injustice of internment of Japanese Americans during WWII & continues to make that fight for all Americans today. An honor!
Congratulations to all of the wonderful teachers that surround me tonight,I am absolutely honored, and humbled to receive an award of such prestige and am so proud of everyone’s hard work around me. Congradulations again! #NTOY18
I #loveteaching when Olivia, Xander, Zoey, Yuumi or any one of my Japanese language students ask for a break in maintaining target language ("May I speak in English, Bacon-Brenes Sensei?"), get turned down and then persist. Success, smiles & fist bumps often follow.
@2014ORTOY @MrTomRad My first foray into Twitter world...and can't think of a better plug than the social justice art work put together by Mt. Tabor Middle School students and fellow equity champion and art teacher @MollyRenauer! Thanks for capturing those images, Brett Bigham @2014ORTOY
