"My mandate is not 30% accountability margins, it’s not enterprise software margins, it’s to be the number one gaming and entertainment company, and what’s what we’re going to go do.” - Xbox CEO @asha_shar at Bloomberg Tech live
We have work to do as we move to a more open developer ecosystem. Today we shipped an XBOX Godot sample to GitHub, giving developers a simple starting point for building games with the GDK and other title services.

Microsoft's lack of investment in Europe is frankly a huge and historic missed opportunity.
Screwing up on LATAM and MENA etc. is one thing ... but you'd think they'd have performed better in Europe.

This shows a major lack of confidence in their own Ecosystem that carries across Xbox console, cloud, PC and Handhelds.
It's their show, they should make their ecosystem Priority #1!
Sony is the only company that deliberately avoids using the official name “Xbox Game Studios” in its store, instead labeling everything simply as “Microsoft Corporation.”
It’s a clear sign of how unwilling Sony is to let the Xbox brand appear in front of its customers.
Strangely enough, I’ve never seen a single journalist point this out anywhere in the world.
At the same time, some people often insist that Xbox should include the PlayStation logo in trailers during Xbox game showcases—which feels absurd.
The double standard is baffling, and I honestly don’t understand what criteria they’re using.
Can't help but feel history is repeating itself here with new leadership trying to cater to a small online community to make them feel good at the detriment of the actual business.
What's going to happen is they will revert, see it makes no difference to console sales, then revert back to their OG strategy a year or two after Helix' launch because they want to be a multiplatform publisher and they don't care where their games sell.
"It was a miss, and I own it."
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma acknowledges the drama over PlayStation and other competitor logos appearing in the Xbox Showcase: https://t.co/vlPL20CORj
Xbox fans are frustrated that Microsoft advertisers competitors whereas PlayStation, Nintendo, etc, obviously never would ever do this.
Saying "It reflects a decision to be deliberate in how we show up for the players who care most about this brand." while showing competitive platforms at your brand's Anniversary Showcase a week later does not line up to me.
That's my opinion on this, I've been clear on this topic for months; I've expressed my voice and the voice I'm seeing on my channels offensively. They know a part of the core Xbox community is not happy about this path, which is why they pre-addressed that topic today. I still think it's not the right decision.
At the end of the day, it's just logos; many won't care. That's cool! Bigger strategy shifts (that actually matter) are still being decided on later, as confirmed by Matt today again. However, I totally understand anyone saying -- their actions don't line up with their words here.
Microsoft needs to put the Xbox Player Voice onto the Xbox dashboard with an ad that says "vote on new features and our strategy" imo.
I think right now it's pretty skewed by online discourse and people who aren't hyper engaged aren't getting a say, if they even know it exists.

Asha Sharma: "That is part of what you are starting to see in the shift from Xbox to XBOX. It reflects a decision to be deliberate in how we show up for the players who care most about this brand."

Microsoft still needs to figure out the very fundamentals of the Windows Store more than a decade on. You shouldn’t need to download an entire game again because of a small update, but this bug still happens far too often 😑
