@tombogert Wow. A lot of higher-than-expected valuations comign out of MLS.
It's hard for me to see Bombino being worth $5M. But I guess there's a shortage of lefties and therefore left backs, especially a U20 in a top ~15 league regularly starting.
@usmntaut This is a league with an average attendance of 518 and no TV deal. It's a league without revenue, in other words.
My assumption is that the quality is absymal and Chicago would have been far better off loaning him to a USL Championship team.
@USSoccerColl Atléti only has one player out on loan right now. They're not really a loan army club. Which would make a move to them odd, IMO. He's not ready to contribute to a top 20 club in the world right now.
@Eyesandvibes Would be a terriblve move - he's not even close to being that level yet.
Atléti doesn't really even loan players out (Transfermarkt says they only have one loaned out right now).
@Eyesandvibes Yeah, also I'm not sure he's really ready for Marseille, which has top 3 resources in 🇫🇷
He started on a tear (12 g+a in 13 games) and since has 1 goal contribution in his last 500+ mins.
This is his first season as a regular first division starter. Let him finish the season.
@ManagerTactical We can't criticize the current generation of players of being entitled and not let the next generation not have to earn their caps.
Kochen has nowhere near earned it. Ditto for Ellis (although getting closer - but still far away). Mehmeti or Gozo are close or there.
@Eyesandvibes He's kind of stagnated his whole career. The first 15 games he played for Mönchengladbach were arguably the best 15 game stretch of his club career.
@alexanderupert Leicester City lost ~£71M ($96M USD) last year and £19M ($26M) the year before.
Vancouver is reportedly (just a rumor but is probably in the ballpark) losing ~$10-15M/year.

The counter-argument to thinking that Gozo isn't ready for a mid-table Prem team is Alex Freeman.
I don't think anyone thought that Alex Freeman was ready to play for a top 6 La Liga club. Pretty much everyone in the US soccer verse thought it was too big of a jump.
Mid-table Prem is too big of a jump. He won't/shouldn't start.
Ownership group also owns Augsburg 🇩🇪, Brondby 🇩🇰, and Estoril Praia 🇵🇹. So I wonder if he's loaned out for a year or two first.

Wingers:
- Pino
- Sarr
- Brennan Johnson
- Esse: Young player, mediocre in Champioinship on loan last season
- Rak-Sakyi: Young player, 25g 10a in ~5k minutes in League One in Championship on loan. Recently called into Ghana senior team.
@aldicd125979@tombogert@MattWoosie Agree. Not sure if he would start at Augsburg or not. But he might and regardless it would be a good challenge for him, and he'd likely get some minutes even if he doesn't start.
I have no idea what system Augsburg play or anything, just a general comment on level.
@Eyesandvibes It wouldn't be the worst move. Besitkas is one of the traditional Big Three in Turkey and would come with pressure/expectations. They'll also be in Europa League or Conference League this season.
@ManagerTactical Ownership group (or individuals from the ownership group even if them not collectively) also own Augsburg 🇩🇪, Brondby 🇩🇰, and Estoril Praia 🇵🇹. So I wonder if he's loaned out for a year or two first.
