The wonderful Miriam Margolyes, Michael Rosen and Alexei Sayle sat down with @DoubleDownNews to talk about what being Jewish means to them.
Enjoy - and plse share.

After @Keir_Starmer accused @elonmusk of whipping up division I thought I’d share some of the misogynistic abuse and death threats I’ve received on this platform. 👀

@JDVance How’s the investigations going the 34 shootings and 9 deaths by your ICE agents in the US?
What’s happened to those that killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti?
Now STFU Vance

I'm afraid that this is why the US administration wants to shut down ocean observations: they don't want the people to know what is happening in our oceans, as it does not fit their ideology and the interests of their fossil fuel industry funders.

When Farage wants to chat shit without scrutiny he can always count of Chopper to interview home on the Farage show on Reform TV … Farce of a country🙄🤷♀️
"Whatever was going on, however frightening or volatile, he always managed to make you feel slightly better about it."
@vicderbyshire pays tribute to Sir Alex Younger, the former head of MI6 and #Newsnight regular, who has died aged 62.
“It demonstrates the narcissism of the arguments we had around Brexit… it looks ridiculous with hindsight.”
Ex MI6 head, Sir Alex Younger, welcomes increased Franco-British co-operation, including on nuclear weapons.
#Newsnight
This is unbelievably upsetting - Sir Alex Younger was a friend of Newsnight & our viewers.
In a volatile world, he would regularly sit on the NN sofa and share his wisdom, expertise and perspective; often he managed to make us feel a little better about everything.
Off air, he & I discussed his cancer. He told me that just when he was looking at new horizons, cancer had put a spanner in the works.
We were very lucky to know him, even just a little

Former MI6 chief Sir Alex Younger on Brexit: “Putin would have been absolutely delighted by our decision.”
“So would Xi. France has effectively eclipsed us. Brexit has marginalised us.” Most striking of all: “Just nobody mentions the UK.”
Very sad that Sir Alex Younger, chief of the Secret Intelligence Service, born on July 4, 1963, died of pancreatic cancer on June 2, 2026, aged 62
Very sad to hear that Alex Younger ex head of MI6 has died. He had a superb mind, and also a great sense of humour, sufficient to call his tumour “Putin.” A calm, wise and hugely intelligent voice has been silenced and he will be missed by many.
In these globally turbulent times one man has regularly acted as a wise, thoughtful and witty guide for listeners of @BBCr4today. The former Head of MI6 Sir Alex Younger has analysed, explained and contextualised the actions of Trump, Putin, Xi and the Ayatollahs. After he first appeared in the programme I was lucky enough to get to know Alex and call him my friend. I’m desperately sad to hear the news I’ve long feared was coming. Alex has died after months trying to cheat the
prognosis he was given whe. They discovered the tumour he nicknamed “Putin”.
We’re always told not to speak of a fight with cancer because it risks implying that only those strong enough survive. I understand that. I really do but sod it. Alex fought so hard to find a treatment to give him a little longer to be with Sarah and their lovely children. And he used every last minute of the short time he did have to be with family and friends and to do what he spent a lifetime in the shadows doing - using his intelligence to understand the world, to explain it but, above all, to keep us all safe.
So despite Henry's dad making it clear that they "do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred or tension”, Farage uses his death in an emergency address to create division for his own gain.
An awful politician.
Statement from Bishop Dr. Imad Haddad on the Israeli Detainment of Natalie Abudayyeh
This morning a beloved youth from our church community, Natalie Abuddayeh, was taken at gunpoint by Israeli forces from her student apartment in Birzeit alongside three other women. We are deeply shocked and horrified by this news, as well as by the news that her family does not yet know where she has been taken. Natalie is a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Beit Jala, a graduate of Talitha Kumi Lutheran School, and a Media and Journalism student at Birzeit University.
As Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, I unequivocally call for Natalie’s immediate release. The entire ELCJHL stands in solidarity with the Abudayyeh family and the Beit Jala and Birzeit communities, and we join them in earnest prayer for Natalie’s safety and freedom.
We are incredibly disturbed by the reality that Natalie now joins the thousands of Palestinians in Israeli detention without charge or trial. Palestinian civilians, including women and children, suffer deep injustice in Israeli military detention and are often held for months or years with no explanation.
We call on our friends, partners, and siblings in Christ around the world to advocate for Natalie’s freedom using whatever channels are available to them, and to demand an end to this unjust and unequal system of detainment and detention that paralyzes and destroys Palestinian communities.

I no longer understand the so-called civilized world.
Another massive russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine.
🛑 Kyiv: 4 killed, 50+ injured, including 3 children.
🛑 Dnipro: 6 killed, including a rescuer, 36 injured.
Where is the world's outrage?
@geraldposner Firstly , our thoughts are with Henry’s family at this difficult time
There is an investigation ongoing and use of ‘Firestorm’ is both incorrect and unnecessary
Rather than shout DEI with no evidence, let’s await the outcome of the report.
Every day, ships leave this russian owned factory in Ireland straight for St Petersburg carrying thousands of tonnes of raw alumina for the war machine.
There’s corruption everywhere. Locals tell me politicians are bought by oligarchs.
Ireland is no longer militarily neutral.
