Israel? That's news to me. Or are you going off some strange earlier post showing a picture of me in the southern Philippines that in the poster's confusion seems to be Israel related?
And I'm not sure why either the Philippines (where I've spent substantial time as a reporter) or Israel (where I've never been) has anything to do with writing about Melanie Martinez. And as mentioned in the article, I think Melanie's music and her imagination and creativity are great. The problem explored in the article isn't with her. It's with the people making money doing such a shambolic job with her public relations. Where they stand on various conflicts and atrocities etc around the world I have no idea. Nor do I have any idea why that would be relevant. But thanks for reading the actual article.
I've faced riot cops, guerrillas & death squads as a journalist.
But nothing prepared me for the PR agency nightmare when I wrote about #MelanieMartinez
They slandered me. Offered money to kill the story.
Failed miserably.
A case study in disastrous public relations.
Kudos to @SPIN Magazine for defending free press!
Here's the article you were never meant to read: https://t.co/LNseaKFUVH
@hadesandelysium If you're interested in the southern Philippines and its conflicts and complexity, here's one of my reports from there: Don’t Go To Jolo - Part One | Sydney Review of Books https://t.co/PglBLegks8
I was interviewed for a new Spin magazine cover story titled “Reefer Madness.”
Here is a bit of my writing that I shared illustrating cannabis induced psychosis.

@AgentP22 What's so terrible about beachballs at an outdoor daytime gig? It's just Garbage - not exactly Ryuichi Sakamoto or Bill Callahan levels of listening required.
