During his earthly ministry, Jesus' first sign in John's Gospel takes place at a wedding (Jn. 2), and his last sign takes place at a graveside service (Jn. 11). Besides teaching us that Christ is present and active in all the seasons of life, they're both gearing us up for the new exodus. Moses' first sign-curse is water to blood; Jesus' sign-blessing is water to wine. Moses' last sign-curse is the death of a sibling (the firstborn); Jesus' last sign-blessing is the raising of a sibling (Lazarus).
Many Reformed Baptists subscribe to the 1689. Far fewer know where it came from or how to read it well. James Renihan wrote A Toolkit for Confessions for exactly that gap. Start here: https://t.co/4ps4RjCXd6
“We cry down the law in respect of justifcation, but we set it up as a rule of sanctifcation. The law sends us to the Gospel that we may be justifed; and the Gospel sends us to the law again to inquire what is our duty as those who are justified.”
—Samuel Bolton
Thankful for God's grace in Dr @RScottClark's life. Two things have really stuck with me from his classes (besides the facientibus), that we tell the truth about the past and his evident love for the sheep of Christ.
After 29 years of teaching faithfully as Professor of Church History and Historical Theology, Dr. R. Scott Clark taught his final class. Class concluded with psalm-singing, and family came to surprise him. We are grateful to God for the decades of service Dr. Clark has given to our campus.

Fantastic day at the inaugural meeting of the Particular Baptist Theological Society. Good papers, very thought provoking and helpful. Good fellowship. The best part, thinking deeply about the glory of Christ.
The church is a “mouth house” (Luther) because Christianity is first a religion of the ear, not the eyes or nose.
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Rom. 10:17).
“Take care how you hear” (Lk. 8:18).
