#tbt to these awesome 3’ tall chess pieces I turned on the lathe, really itching to do some more of these someday! The fun part here was carving both crowns, especially the king’s being a solid piece. Carving out those slots allowed me get really creative with the process!

Finished up the top side of the 7’ round claro walnut sunburst! @gl_veneer did an amazing job on the two pieces to make the circle, I need to get this thing on the base ASAP!🤤 What do you think about this one?

I need some steel & saw marks in my life, don’t get me wrong using all of this Claro Walnut is such a pleasure, but I really enjoy building with rough sawn lumber too, it’s super fun seeing the old wood come to life like this table and bench build!
