Of Books and Beasts: A Cryptozoologist's Library is the first book of its kind: even-handed reviews of 400 books in cryptozoology, zoology, related sciences, and fiction! https://t.co/QYS4OwGPTD
@Dale_Chu@amayor@chronicle This is a terrible situation for our country. There are many ways to structure high school and graduation requirements, and many factors to blame, but the bottom line is that no one can be allowed to graduate high school without being literate.
@LindenmuthWendi Human-caused climate change. I was skeptical for a long time because of gaps in data and inconsistent models. The data piled up, the models got better, and for the last decade I've been advocating strong action to cut greenhouse gases.
@JoyceCarolOates That is terrifying. It's like going straight to calculators without ever playing with blocks to see what 2+2 actually means, only with more consequences.
@swanky_moves@lizisamused Men have options. They just take work, like taking an honest interest in ho w your workmates are doing or joining an organization where men and women have interests in common. Think how many marriages come out of ComiCon :)
@KT_Carlisle A rescue from a puppy mill who came home with us over two years ago! Smart dog, if stubborn. Always looking forward to the next walk or playtime, but happy to nap next to me while I write.
@mysteriouskat It's not. GOOD wroting is hard because you have many choices between words and have to think them through: ONE will be a tiny shade better than others to you.
@Arkypatriot I am certain - I write zoology as well as military history and have a memory for these things - I read of one US soldier KIA by a Tiger in the early 70s. A hunt by US troops killed the suspected cat. I'm surprised on the Purple Heart: people (and K9s) have gotten it for less.
@writeconscious Advice: Take a shot at top ones, especially via networking with authors, agents, and editors who may refer you if your work impresses, but other agents can also sell your book. I had 2 well-known agencies who didn't sell it but got useful feedback and a new one that sold it.
@writeconscious None of the 25 (guessing names) took me on, but I was unpublished and DID get "no but with useful feedback" from 3-4. (A newer agent sold the book.) You CAN reach top ones. Just start knowing it may take years of writing, networking, meetings, referrals AND a great pitch & book.
I'll be attending the formal reopening event in July. Whatever you think of cryptozoology, this is an irreplaceable collection of 100,000+ items for historians, folklorists, zoologists, and other knowledge-seekers.

@JoyceCarolOates My late father could look at anything and know how to fix it. He was a watchmaker (though apprenticeship) and electronics tech who attended physics lectures and could grasp any topic. He made a sketch on notebook paper and built a boat. He could have succeeded in many things.
@nypost Here is my New York Post report debunking the UFO claims of this "ex-Pentagon official", who's been caught in several lies and falsehoods.
