dan lanning lost stein and lupoi and made internal hires

elko lost klein and bateman and made internal hires

a lot of this loss happened in the offseason

how we respond will be fascinating to watch

After tonight's game, a special senior day ceremony was held in the Blue Bell Park press box for recent graduates @nolankos9 and Olivia Sims.

Nolan was hired on as the full-time @AggieBaseball SID while finishing his last semester of school and has been an absolute rock star, while pulling double duty.

H/T @AlexMill20 for most of the heavy lifting on this bit.

Congrats y'all!

Rumor has it Elko’s extension includes funding for plenty of chairs to be sacrificed so that way A&M can keep winning games in gritty fashion like today

[Robert Behrens @rcb05]

Mike Elko knew Texas A&M had set number of bad plays left to make this season and opted to take the big bath and get them all out of the way in one game.

This kind of strategic thinking is why he earned a six-year extension.

@AggiesToday I wonder if the wheels were quietly set in motion a year ago by our QB

[Marcel Reed @Marcel10Reed]

Can we get a Waffle House in College Station??

[Robert Behrens @rcb05]

This is a game that SOOOOO many previous A&M teams lose. Can't understate how big this game is for the program.

[Robert Behrens @rcb05]

For the first time in my lifetime, Texas A&M has beaten a ranked non-conference opponent in a true road game.

I'm 42 years old.

Prayers for Bryce Anderson 🙏🙏🙏

@KBTXRusty Majorly missed slam dunk sponsorship opportunity for Nick the Greek imo

@Drewtamu I feel for the double bait

[Matthew Gromala @Matt_Gromala]

@Drewtamu That said if next year is a repeat of this past year it’s definitely time to move on (duh) but I can understand that there were enough flashes of potential to give Earley another chance. We just can’t be getting mauled in nonconference games and getting swept by Mizzou.

[Matthew Gromala @Matt_Gromala]

@Drewtamu Even if it doesn’t work out next year I still think it’d be the right move long-term.

Expectations were understandably high for the team but imo were a bit too high for a first year HC and completely new staff. Definitely think there needs to be some shuffling on assistants tho.

There are too many people I’d be tagging that have helped me over the years but for everyone in the newsroom and in the community that I got to interact with: Thank you.

It’s been a great ride and I’m excited to begin a new career in marketing this upcoming week!

Some personal news:

Friday marked the end to my career in news. It’s been a memorable 3 years since I started with KAGS in 2022 and later KCEN and its changed me in many ways for the better going from just an internet writer to a full-fledged content expert.

While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye as the last person that made efforts to put Brazos Valley coverage in I’m proud of the work I was able to do for both the Waco-Temple-Killeen and Bryan-College Station areas, I’m proud of what I was able to accomplish.
