Ode to My Dad
In the heart of our childhood,
Stood a shop you built, tall as a tree,
A cozy haven where laughter echoed,
Where we gathered, young and free.
Here, in the warmth of those walls,
We learned the language of life,
A sprinkle of swears, but never at home,
in every crack,
This flag is for you, Melvin A.O.,
A tribute to the love that never looks back.
You dreamed of painting the stars and stripes,
On that shop where we played and grew,
A retired custom harvester, gone with the sun,
But forever, Dad, I carry you through
