Miia Lehtinen, from the Helsinki University Hospital, Finland, has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (MMCTS).
Having first joined MMCTS as a Surgical Resident, Dr @miia_ll has grown with the journal, from editing Core Skills tutorials to now leading the platform that helps thousands of surgeons refine their technique.
As the incoming Editor-in-Chief, she aims to strengthen MMCTS’s role as a trusted, peer-reviewed educational resource, enhance its visibility, and ensure it continues to document the most innovative surgical procedures from around the world.
Her vision is to make MMCTS a comprehensive, modern library that represents every domain of cardiothoracic surgery, supporting both trainees and experienced surgeons in advancing their craft.
Among 73,813 patients, 9495 (12.9%) lost the ability to live independently after surgery.
Patients who were classified as underweight or living with obesity class 3 or 4 had an increased likelihood of adverse discharge.
