I was a legislative staffer from 2019 to 2022. The job of a staffer is seldom partisan, and is almost always to support the institution and the districts constituents. You might not like a member or their actions, but stopping staff from doing their job is unprofessional.
The AG is claiming that legislators who are not on the floor today are criminals, as there is a state law making it a misdemeanor for any public officer to commit willful neglect to perform their duties.
I would argue that by giving the Dems a quorum to pass their terrible agenda without addressing the states most pressing needs, I would then be committing willful neglect to the citizens of Michigan and my constituents who clearly voted for a different path on Election Day!
House Republicans have proposed real tax relief for working families and seniors that takes effect immediately. Democrats have offered a complicated plan that won’t take fully effect until 2026. #TaxReliefNowNotLater
