All efforts should be made to ensure the protection of green-belt land. Not saying that there should be no development in the green-belt areas, but the NPPF should ensure the continuation of stricter criteria for development in these areas.
It's alright saying "we'll build 370,000 homes a year", but there needs to be the infrastructure and services in place to support such developments. It can be argued that services and infrastructure are not sufficient to support the current population.

Also interesting that the Labour government have created a new grey-belt term, just to justify development in the green-belt. The whole purpose of the green-belt was to protect land between towns and cities, and prevent them from creating a conurbation or megalopolis.
