Isabelle Huppert attended tonight's 35mm screening of Michael Cimino's monumental epic HEAVEN'S GATE at @am_cinematheque in Hollywood. Huppert watched the movie with the sold out crowd and appeared quite moved during her Q&A with @TimGrierson. (1/2)
@PamelaIngold@am_cinematheque@TimGrierson It was the full-length original 219-minute theatrical cut, not the heavily trimmed 149-minute version that was released in 1981 after the film's initial critical failure.
I'm so accustomed to the vibrant 2012 restoration of HEAVEN'S GATE that seeing an original 35mm print last night, with its hazy sepia tint intact, was a revelation. They feel like entirely different movies, and both are exquisite. Thank you, @am_cinematheque and Isabelle Huppert!
Now seated for tonight’s incredibly rare 70mm screening of RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II, part of @vistahollywood's monthlong celebration of Carolco Pictures. Lots of hardcore @RamboMovie and @JohnRamboFilm fans in attendance!
@BodySnatchers79 Watching Claudio play that theme for Carpenter was one of those rare life moments when you can't help but think, "Is this actually happening?!"
Here's John Carpenter grooving to Goblin co-founder Claudio Simonetti playing the theme to Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA on piano at the Grammy Museum in downtown LA. One of many wonderful moments from tonight's intimate conversation between the two legendary horror composers. (1/2)
John Carpenter's son Cody played the theme to HALLOWEEN. Together, Carpenter and Simonetti talked about their approach to scoring, their musical influences, their advice for up-and-coming composers and much more. It was a hilarious, upbeat chat with two genuine masters. (2/2)
As for the great Jason Patric, his unforgettable performance in the film rivals Brando at his best in terms of raw magnetism and physicality. He's a force of nature as Jim Thompson's broken protagonist. What a pleasure it was to hear him discuss the movie live. (2/2)
Tonight's rare 35mm screening of AFTER DARK, MY SWEET at Vidiots was incredible. Jason Patric's Q&A, moderated by film critic Travis Woods (@aHeartOfGould), shed fascinating light on one of the quintessential neo-noirs of the '90s. The print was Patric's own, by the way. (1/2)
Billy Dee Williams attended last night's sold out screening of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK at the @academymuseum in Hollywood. It was an honor to see a live Q&A with Lando Calrissian himself!
I'm stunned by the beauty of this long-awaited special edition of Mike Figgis' LIEBESTRAUM. From the packaging to the print essays to the commentaries, video interviews, and more, @cine_matographe and @VinegarSyndrome have outdone themselves with this world-class Blu-ray release.
The special event was held at the Eastwood Performing Arts Center, and the charming Q&A with Adrienne Barbeau was conducted by @MattLandsman. It was an honor to spend a little time with the star of THE FOG, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, CREEPSHOW, SWAMP THING, and many more. (2/2)
Definitely putting #Beast on my 2026 year end best list. There’s so much heart in this film. Daniel MacPherson is absolutely phenomenal in the lead, and @amyshark is so cool, her character deserves a spinoff sequel. Bravo to @Tyler__Atkins, @russellcrowe and @davidfrigerio.
