The Minister met this evening with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.  

Ministers Jaishankar & Peters:

-discussed the strengthening ties between New Zealand and India over the past 18 months;

-explored the next steps required to realise the bilateral relationship’s full potential;

-spoke about recent developments in
both South Asia and the Pacific Islands region; and

-discussed how New Zealand and India can work together to ensure a stable, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.  

Minister Peters also repeated his unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

It was a pleasure hearing about your aspirations for India’s agriculture sector and discussing the many ways we can work closely together to advance both countries food and fibre sectors.

Today I toured the Mother Dairy Patparganj factory. Mother Dairy collects milk from dairy cooperatives across the region and turns them into consumer products.

Great to expertise the Indian diary sector at a practical level and better understand ways in which we can cooperate.
