Esp. if it compares families w/ similar consumption by parents, with the contrast being allowing the kids to drink at home v not allowing them.

And of course, dependency isn't the only bad outcome of drinking.

@ZachWritesStuff @KeithNHumphreys I wonder whether European youth can access alcohol more safely than American kids. In my hometown, it was common for high schoolers to congregate in the sticks, drinking in orchards, spots in the hills, out by the river, etc. Lots of risky behavior involved, esp. driving.

If cannabis reform is to be more than a gentrification of the herb's production and distribution, it needs a reflexive, backward-looking component, like a Truth & Reconciliation process.

If weed taxes can fund further law enforcement, they ought to be able to fund analysis of the ways drug war dollars distorted research into cannabis, focusing it on trying to show harms and, perhaps, compromising the integrity of scientific process.
