News Corp, Sky News and The Guardian were barred from even applying. Opinion writing doesn't count as news under the government's own rules. And no funded newsroom ever has to tell its readers.

The fund ran dry in 28 days. One recipient was two days old. Another collapsed five weeks later.

“My name is Sunny Hostin… and I’m a former federal prosecutor,” Hostin said while telling police her son went to Harvard.

The host used her elitist privilege to try to get her son out of trouble after he was busted trespassing along Metro-North Railroad tracks in Westchester County.

“That’s my son. He’s a Harvard graduate, he doesn’t have a criminal record.”

24-year-old Gabriel Hostin claims he was jogging when he saw that the gate near the tracks was open.

He was hit with a trespass violation for what can be an arrestable offense, according to the New York Post.

Hostin has been known to shame others for their “white privilege.”

Media statement: Australian uranium good enough for India but not us

Labor’s energy hypocrisy has ramped up this week in a new deal between Australia and India, allowing greater exports of uranium to support growth of nuclear energy on the sub-continent while forbidding the proven, emissions-free technology at home.

One Nation leader Senator Pauline Hanson said that while Australia’s energy security was going backwards under Labor’s reckless pursuit of net zero by 2050 solely with renewables, India planned to produce 100 gigawatts of nuclear energy by 2047.

“India plans to produce three or four times Australia’s entire electricity output from nuclear technology alone, splitting Australian uranium atoms to achieve this goal,” Senator Hanson said.

“Labor’s energy hypocrisy knows no bounds. They ban nuclear energy in Australia but happily export uranium for this purpose overseas.

“They are shutting down our coal power plants while exporting it to other countries. We’re facing gas shortages and Labor is banning gas appliances, yet we export huge amounts of it.

“In the meantime, Labor is destroying rainforests and native habitats in Queensland – and invading farms in Victoria – to build giant wind turbines and thousands of kilometres of new transmissions lines.”

Senator Hanson said One Nation would lift the ban on nuclear energy in Australia and build a 1400MW advanced pressurised water nuclear reactor in New South Wales.

“It makes no sense for Australia, with more than a quarter of the planet’s proven uranium reserves, to ban uranium mining in three states and ban nuclear energy altogether,” she said.

“We’re even supposed to be buying nuclear-powered submarines, but we can’t have nuclear-powered cities, towns and critical industries.

“Our demands for reliable, affordable baseload energy are only going to increase. Renewables cannot possibly meet this demand. Nuclear power is used safely at more than 450 sites in 28 countries, and more reactors are being built around the world as we speak.

“We cannot afford to be nuclear hypocrites any longer.”

I really feel for the young first home buyers who were told by the government to get into a 5% deposit mortgage right before the government started crashing house prices.

It's not right to saddle young first home buyers with an absolute mountain of debt they wouldn't have gotten into without the government scheme.

The major parties are still in a spin over mono vs multi culturalism. I won't be changing my tune on this.

No matter what race, country or ethnicity you come from, we all need to aspire to be united under one flag and one set of rules. It's a shame that Anthony Albanese and Angus Taylor can't wrap their head around that.

Yesterday One Nation forced the Greens to show their true colours.

We passed an urgent motion demanding action on Labor's cost-of-living crisis - the Greens couldn’t even bring themselves to vote on it.

They didn’t want to be seen voting against their Labor mates, who they just did a dirty deal with to pass the budget.

Australians are being hit with rising prices on food, fuel and power, and too many are being forced to go without.

It’s time for immediate action, it's time to put Australians first.

Independent MP Dai Le rattled Albanese in Question Time after asking him to give Australians a straight assurance that no government MP, and no close relation of a government MP, used prior market-sensitive knowledge of Labor’s capital gains tax and negative gearing changes for private financial benefit.

It was a basic integrity question. Dai Le was not asking for theatre. She was asking whether anyone close to the government had the chance to position themselves ahead of major tax changes that could affect property decisions, investments, market behaviour and household finances across the country.

Albanese did not give the assurance. He stood up, snapped back at her, and tried to turn the whole thing into a personal jab by telling her this was not a local council, this was serious government, a clear shot at her former role as a councillor instead of a direct answer to the actual question.

Dai Le raised a point of order and asked him to be direct, but Albanese still refused to answer the substance. That is why the moment matters. Not because Dai Le asked something outrageous, but because the Prime Minister was given a chance to simply say no one benefited from inside knowledge and he chose to attack her instead.

Dai Le hit a raw nerve, and she deserves credit for asking the question every Australian should want answered.
