At today’s Durable Solutions Steering Committee meeting, the Gov🇸🇸 & UN🇺🇳 reaffirmed to durable solutions for 60K displaced people in #SouthSudan.
At its core, this work is about putting displaced communities at the forefront of their own development.

During my recent visit to Malakal I saw in the impact of funding for durable solutions. Support from partners like @EU_Partnerships is crucial in enabling displaced families to safely move into homes, plant gardens & secure a sustainable future.

Progress on #DurableSolutions continues in Upper Nile State to address the protracted humanitarian situation.
Hear more from the Head of Integrated Office following a joint visit by 🇸🇸 Government, @unmissmedia, @UNHCRSouthSudan, @OCHASouthSudan and @SSNGOF to Malakal:
A grave protection crisis is unfolding in South Sudan’s eastern Jonglei State.
Months of fighting and insecurity have forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes. This senseless violence must end.

Echoing these words after visiting Akobo. I briefed the press today: hundreds of thousands of families are displaced, homes are ruined & rains are coming. We must help families rebuild, but it starts with a resolute commitment to peace in #SouthSudan.

In Akobo #SouthSudan I saw the devastation of a conflict displacing tens of thousands of people. Nyanhial fled to Ethiopia & returned to a home in ruins w/nothing left. She wants to rebuild, but like so many others, is in urgent need of support, services & most importantly peace.
Addressing climate change in South Sudan is essential not only for environmental protection, but also for advancing durable solutions, stability, and peace for refugees, returnees, IDPs and host communities.
Today we joined the @SouthSudanGov, @WFP_SouthSudan & other partners in launching the ‘Enhancing Climate Resilience in Flood Prone Areas in Northwestern South Sudan (ECRF)’ project, a major step towards protecting communities at the front lines of the climate crisis.
In three years, 1.3 million people have fled Sudan’s war into South Sudan seeking safety. Upon arrival we register them and provide emergency support.
When we ask what they need most, they ask for peace in #Sudan, and peace in the country hosting them.
#3YearsTooLong
Three years into the war in #Sudan, women and girls still carry its heaviest weight.
Violence follows them in flight and in displacement. Survivors cannot wait.
Protection and dignity must come first.

Powerful testimony by @AnnCurry as the Sudan civil war enters its fourth year tomorrow.
Is It Too Much to Ask to Care About Sudan? @nytopinion

Three years of war in Sudan have pushed millions of girls out of school.
In South Sudan, with support from refugee-led groups & UNHCR, Sudanese girls are finding their voices again, through programs preventing & responding to gender-based violence.

In three years, 14 million people have fled their homes in Sudan because of war, half of whom remained in the country. Many are still on the move seeking safety. An incredibly huge cost on people & an even greater cost to everyone if the war continues. https://t.co/U72Fb4Efk2
In Malakal, I met with local authorities & displaced families embracing durable solutions. Through farming cooperatives, they are putting food on tables & supplying local markets. In Hai Matar, families that were displaced now have land rights & access to building materials.
As #Sudan tragically enters its 4th year of war, 123 partners are urgently seeking support for Sudanese refugees & local communities in 7 countries. With millions of our sisters & brother enduring so much suffering, solidarity is desperately needed. https://t.co/t4IJO48F1b
This strategy is our collective pledge for the years ahead. By putting host and refugee communities in the lead, we shift from immediate response to long-term solutions.
Congratulations to all involved. Our focus now is turning this strategy into real change on the ground.
Curious about how #UNHCR is supporting communities in Maban #SouthSudan?
Check out our new strategy co-designed with communities, authorities & partners. It is a roadmap to boost self-reliance, inclusion & climate-resilient development for all. 👇

Clashes in Bambouti, CAR have forced thousands to flee since the beginning of 2026.
Over 2,600 refugees arrived in Source Yubu, #SouthSudan.
UNHCR & partners registered new arrivals, but urgent support for shelter, health & protection is needed.

Honoured to present my credentials to the Hon. Ambassador Monday Semaya Kumba @MoFA_SouthSudan .
UNHCR stands with people fleeing conflicts in Sudan, CAR & beyond + those displaced by conflict & climate in 🇸🇸 - working with authorities and partners to deliver protection and aid.
