@JerryMoloney1 @maxxuumman @GDug11 Jerry. Centre pivot machines have way lower running costs. Just quick greasing of pivot. Side cab machines are expensive on axle bearing maintenance even with greasing. Only problem with pivot is that they can be unstable. We've had both.

Had County Council farm inspection today. Not so bad. Polite and courteous. Interested in inspector's opinion on stocking rate and pollution. Took a while to explain to him that there's no direct connection.

If this is true, then we need our milk purchasers, whom we mostly control , to market our milk (and beef) as carbon neutral.

@TaeSavesLives @DarraghScott As a victim of both, sometimes conacre is the best way. I'd rather have got conacre this year than renewed an old lease. Now I'm locked in to working for nothing for 7 years. Had to be 7 years to get tax free money for my landlord

@gormanifa Francie. It doesn't matter how fast our feet are under the table. Eu will push divide and conquer policies. Convergence is the best example of this.

@bartleyj49 A lot of farmers built a slatted shed in the 80s to max out stock levels at end of each year . Also heifers were calved a year older. I think that a lot of farmers would qualify as methane / carbon neutral.

@bartleyj49 James. Can I sell my farm produce as methane neutral as I have less methane produced now than 1990 , Paris agreement year. Prior to 1990, farmers had 3 or 4 year old cattle, farmers were fully stocked to avail of stock relief, needed more cows for the same amount of milk.

Would it not be better to include calves older than 6 weeks old as well?

@HannLawrence Ideally calves should start at the feeder at 3 days old. Easiest age to get them going. But calves need to be on new milk for a minimum of 9 days to get value from vaccines. We're spending a fortune on vaccines but not getting any benefit.

@ashleighfen We need to make greenwashing a serious offence . Very large fines are the only solution.
