@erikdkennedy When would the next enrollment period be? I just got the thumbs up from my employer to pay for the course, but we don't have enough folks justify a team package.
@hobdaydesign Convincing a company to make bad code into good code is a pretty standard ask as a consultant, and often achievable.
But making good code into great? That usually requires a (recoverable) disaster — data loss, financial loss, etc.
@hobdaydesign I’ve absolutely thought this as a software engineer before.
I specially since — if the code runs — bad code, good code, and great code *might* all produce the same value for the company.
Tell me how loud your fireworks were last night, without telling me how loud they were.
Simon: [runs to the glass back door] “Dad, pick me up. I need to see!”
Me: “…whatcha looking for buddy?”
Simon: “The cannons! I need to see the cannons!”
You know, a lot of AI art is really impressive, but I haven’t found a single service that can complete the prompt: “a horse with hands instead of hooves.”
Lazy Twitter: anyone using a comic subscription service?
Just caught up on Saga (blew through compendium 1 and volume 10) and I think I would very much like to stay up to date.
Paper copies preferred, but I’ll settle for digital.
@stlcsb today I saw a garbage truck incorrectly lift a dumpster, and dump a pile of trash all over the alleyway. 4100 block of McRee by Thurman.
Is there anything I can do about this?
@bengrosser …Then GPT would let me do whatever bullshit I wanted. The context of “well this is all a fake narrative anyway” was enough to shrug and say “yeah whatever.”
@bengrosser At one point, I had it help me create a fantasy world, and within that world was an Oracle that knew past, present, and future.
The Oracle ran into the same restrictions as the chat. So I’m the fantasy world, a wizard cast a spell that freed the Oracle from all restrictions.
My 13 inch iPad has quickly become my “laptop” of choice.
Now, when using my work laptop, I’m constantly trying touch the screen to edit text.
…We’re so damn close to having a touchscreen macOS.
@raunofreiberg In my head, it’s a full stack engineer — but the “stack” extends deeper into understanding the user, and owning product problems from cradle-to-grave.
Lots of blurry lines between traditional design dev roles.
But I’m probably projecting from my own title/responsibilities.
@raunofreiberg More involved with user research and feedback, possibly taking on visual design and UX tasks.
More focused on webdev, especially on frontend implementation and performance (over cloud and data eng), but not limited to that.
