Our @HarpethHall choirs just wrapped up an incredible workshop on how to sing gospel music with Dr. Rosephanye Powell. Check them out improvising on-the-spot music in the “special” of their song with Dr. Powell !

As I sit on the plane home, drafting up my reflection/notes from #ACDA2019 , I’m struck by the extraordinary things I’ve learned: female voice science, neuroscience in rehearsal, pedagogical movement, score analysis for children’s choir, orchestral techniques, and so much more!
Incredible workshop on the female changing voice at the #ACDA2019 conference! We have lots of work to do, but I’m excited to take back this cutting-edge research back to our @HarpethHall students!
I spent nearly 7 hours listening to breathtakingly good choirs today, but the best moment was dinner with my alma mater’s college students... and my former professor / thesis advisor / mentor Dr. Jamila McWhirter! @MTSU_SOM#ACDA2019#Legacy
It was so great to visit with our previous @HarpethHall Carell Artist-in-Residence Mary Biddlecombe during our first full day of the @ACDANational conference!
I am so excited for our students to have their opening night tomorrow at @HarpethHall ! They’ve worked hard, and have truly put on a heart warming spectacle. #hhccbb
Set and prop construction day for CCBB is well under way! Shoutout to the 45 students who are taking time out of their weekend to help us get our @HarpethHall show ready!
Getting things ready for the middle school musical set! Many thanks to the @HarpethHall students for helping out when their peers were celebrating fall break!
“The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.” ~Derek Walcott

“This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others.” ~Walt Whitman https://t.co/Xogj8R0ler
Found in book research, a line by Frederick Douglass:
“The present… is not an isolated speck of time… These are the harvest hours of history. The good or evil of the present, the wisdom or folly of present actions, [will] reproduce themselves a thousand fold in the future.”
