@DavidPepper It's collective traumatization. It happened so quickly and so completely that they found themselves unable to cope. The demoralization is overwhelming. Accepting 'outside help' would require acknowledging the traumatization instead of continuing to live in a collective PTSD.

@petesaunders3 This is all about real and/or perceived wealth and power. That's it. It's a way of exercising power in a system that robs people of a sense of control of their lives. This is equally true for all involved.
