If you are a Catholic you need to submit to Rome. It’s non-negotiable.
The Pope is the Vicar of Christ, meaning he’s the representative for Christ on Earth and the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church.
This doesn’t mean you need to agree with everything he says, especially when he’s speaking in a personal capacity on matters not relating to the Church, but when he’s discussing Church doctrine you should listen.

She is happy to refer to her ethnicity for political advantage when it suits her.
Surely her refusal to accept that other people may have an ethnicity is strange?
Last week I called Andy Burnham's speech consequential, but it was very much full, as Ed Davey said, full of 'definitely maybes' by 2040. @KemiBadenoch delivered a belter of a speech today, full of sparkle, but also setting out basic Conservative principles and full of policy meat. The IHT promise will get the headlines but there was far more to it than that. The stuff about the Reform "weirdos" and ruling our reuniting the right should get attention, plus the passage on her ethnicity and what it means to be English, where she absolutely socked it to Suella Braverman without naming her. The passage on how to bring about growth was especially strong. I've been attending party conferences for 40 years. This one got off to a slow start, but ended with the party members going home with a spring in their step. Rarely, if ever, in those 40 years, have I seen a party so united behind its leader - both MPs and party members. And to achieve that within less than two years of becoming leader is quite an achievement. Yes, last year's conference speech was a turning point, but so was her firing of Robert Jenrick. With one decisive step, she ripped out the cancer, and has never looked back. It's now up to her shadow cabinet to demonstrate that this isn't a one woman party.
Police again very clear. No suggestion Anne Widdecombe's death terror related. Or that it is politically motivated. And that speculation on motive is unhelpful to their investigation.
This is so bonkers I can hardly believe you made it.
A large part of the 2.5m were unproductive — students, dependents etc. So they had little impact on GDP.
But their numbers are included in GDP/capita calculations, so quite the impact on GDP/capita.
I’m amazed you don’t understand this.
No wonder the three Theresa May years were three of the most miserable, shambolic, rudderless in our country’s modern history.
@BellaWallerstei I don’t suggest you bear any moral responsibility for this crime.
However I ask you - which side do you instinctively side with?
You would prefer there was no conflict, as would I.
Please don’t evade the question.
@ClarkeMicah It is clear
You know we are in arguably terminal decline, but have no prescription or hope
Thank you for your excellent analysis over the years, now if you'll excuse us, we have a country to save
Feel free to make a suitably erudite and snide remark
@ClarkeMicah would use his last vestige of strength to twat Alexander Fleming and knock the penicillin out of his hands to prove a point.
Can’t we save our country instead?
This tweet is a shameful lie. I would rather eat a raw sea urchin in warm pondweed sauce than so much as meet Rupert Lowe (who reminds me of a dim man in a pub I once met, not of WSC) , and I would never under any circumstances endorse his frightful, nasty faction. Hope that is clear.
I told Labour that this would happen.
Cutting the supply of rented homes, while demand increases will have an obvious effect.
Does Labour expect renters to buy their homes now?
This “let them eat cake” attitude is hurting the very people it’s meant to help.

If I admit 5 homeless men into my house per year for 5 years who I want to but can’t evict, if I then only admit 3 per year the next year I have not in any way ‘solved the problem’.
Unpopular fact: Labour are solving Britain’s immigration issues.
Before you try to argue against that, go and look at the data.
Since Labour came into power:
Net immigration: ↓ 74%
Small boat arrivals: ↓ 44%
Asylum seekers in hotels: ↓ 46%
And continuing this trend.
Perhaps we don’t need a load of self-serving grifters being voted in next time around after all?
Let’s take an issue you really care about - homelessness. If we doubled the number of total homeless, and the number of homeless then continued to increase but increased by slightly less per year than the previous 3 years, you wouldn’t say ‘we are solving homelessness’.
This post is making a remarkable number of people angry. The same people who yell at us on X all day that we have to reduce migration getting angry when we reduce migration 🤷🏻♂️ Just a reminder to everyone: Boris, Farage and Brexit caused the current migration issues and Labour appear to be the first lot actually successfully addressing it.
