Honestly think the Lions did pretty decent today.
Just lacked cutting edge in the final third especially in the first 45, and were punished by a physically strong team which took their chances well.
Maja Chwalinska becomes the 2nd qualifier in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam singles final.

Make no mistake, this was not a promising performance, and we still don’t know what Korea’s starting 11 looks like with a week until the #FIFAWorldCup. This is VERY reminiscent of 2018, but with a better set of players this time. I have NO idea how this will go 🤷🏻♂️
I'm pleased to invite @Wemby to our second Commission on Government Efficiency hearing on Wednesday June 10th 5-8pm, where we'll be asking the public for their thoughts on how government can run better. Would love to have you there for the whole time!
@meisnewhere Some positives off the top of my head:
1. Making it to a first final of the year despite recent injuries
2. The mental strength to come back from behind especially in the first
3. Going almost shot for shot with a player 7 years younger for the first two games.
Not to be for Kean Yew, but he gave a superb go of it despite looking really shattered. Many positives for him to take away from this one.
Thought Lanier was fantastic defensively and just had bags of energy to close it out. This is why he’s one of badminton’s rising stars.
What a cracker of a Sunday for badminton. 🔥
Definitely watching the doubles final. Should be an absolute thriller, and I feel Satwik and Chirag take it in three. 🇮🇳
The men’s singles final should be special too. Loh Kean Yew, with that incredible home support, can absolutely go all the way.
But I feel Alex has the edge. I know his coaches, Kestutis and Jeppe, really well, and they are two of the sharpest analytical minds in badminton.
My call: Alex in two very, very close games.
What a final day 🔥
PSA for those wondering: Unlikely that Kean Yew’s match starts before 6pm.
We still have the mixed doubles and men’s doubles finals to go this afternoon before Lanier v Loh.
Just in: Loh Kean Yew THROUGH to his first Singapore Badminton Open final! 21-15, 15-21, 21-9 against Koki Watanabe.
He will face France’s Alex Lanier tomorrow.
@sneakyshaunny I honestly would not read that much into the world ranking. Most of the top men’s singles top 30 can beat each other when they’re at top form.
But when a player has a vastly inferior h2h record to other, regardless of form and world ranking, they could be in trouble.
