@VladTheInflator Software developers are a bit like lawyers. The more of them are around, the more of them you'll need. Which is why those fears about all dev jobs being shipped over to India never materialized. But the massive influx of cheap labor was still felt: in the profession's culture.
@austincampbell lol, I bet you those champagne socialists hold more contempt for "the little guy" (and his backwards ways) than any Republican ever could.
@DSBatten@BurnTheFed@jack Doubt it. But even if, his creation brought so much plight onto humanity that he's probably the one man on earth today beyond redemption.
@dampedspring@ces921 Powell should be the last of his kind. Given recent performance the FOMC needs to be replaced by a computer. With a single mandate.
@UnderCoercion Yeah, I'm conflicted about that one too. The thing is, if the US fed gov holds it outright, they might eventually be compelled to coerce miners across the globe.
@VladTheInflator@AnnaEconomist Well, I would've been willing to overlook 2020, given the pandemic and all that. But there is no excuse for the -0,5 points in 2024. He should be put on trial for that one - after his term is over.
@RealRickRule Consumption taxes (vat, tariffs, gas/emissions taxes, etc.) are included since CPI measures gross price.
But what makes tax increases special (unlike other price hikes) is money is taken out of circulation rather then ending up in either wages or margins. Thus they dent demand.
