Thursley Common today. First visit since the fire. You can still smell it months later. But the wildlife was good. 100+ Redpoll (seen with Margo and Christine from RSPB Guildford) plus 3 Common Lizards and awesome displays by the Dragonflies and Red Kites!

@surreywallcreep @mostlyscarce Salisbury Plain has to be further from the sea than the North Downs and has a healthy population of Corn Buntings. I think more open habitat and less people.

Our Pied Wagtails are hard round Staines. Hard or bloody stupid, I can't tell.

at least 7 x Spotted Flys near the car park at Crooksbury on the sunny side of the trees and in the tree tops. Could have been well over a dozen across from common. Also 6 x Mistle Thrush in the horse paddocks together family group. Single Swift over my Burpham garden today.

Then there were the flycatchers - Minimum of 15 Spotted sat in 2 trees - there were likely to be at least 30. Some local youngsters still being fed but the 1 Pied (elusive) showed there were migrants too (2/2) @SurreyBirdNews

Nice to finally get in on the pied fly influx. At least 2 in a wave of 25 flycatchers at Blackheath this evening. Site tick ✅ for me and now recorded at both my local patches in last 3 years. @SurreyBirdNews
