@JoelMCurzon Believing in delusion is comforting I guess. I get that, many of us were there at some point. It doesn't make it true by any means. Heroin is very comforting too, so I hear.
@Rainmaker1973 Yeah no.. Those numbers are off by a good 10 years at least. By 1999 we had Internet at home, cell phones were becoming common. A kid born that year would have zero knowledge of the pre-digital age. I'm from 83, this describes me.
@Celphais@Rainmaker1973 Yup. I'm an 83 kid, and I feel like this defines me pretty accurately. A kid born in the mid 90s wouldn't at all remember a time before the Internet.
@JoelMCurzon The results of the poll itself show why it is a lie. If 90% of respondents believe it's literally true when it obviously isn't, that's a lie.
To me personally it feels more like a myth, because I don't believe it actually happened nor could've happened.
But overall yes, lie.
@ArcticJackW@NathanMorg21349@Mormonger I realize that the LDS faith basically requires you to believe this if you take the revelations of JS seriously, and yet this view is utterly and demonstrably false. So.. what does that tell you about the revelations of JS?
@ArcticJackW@NathanMorg21349@Mormonger Except we know through multiple lines of evidence that humanity absolutely did not start in the Americas. We evolved in Africa from other great apes (yes we're still apes), and migrated across the world from there. There was no Garden in Eden in Jackson Co MS and no global food.
@brettachapman That's a very oversimplified view, but ok. The great majority of individuals who killed bison in their thousands did so to sell the hides for their own financial gain. The US government allowed it sure, but it was primarily out of financial incentive.
@cougjazzfan I left the church over 10 years ago. I don't regret it, and I'm never going back. It was the hardest thing I've ever done but I'm very glad I did it. Feel free to DM me.
The way the non-binary faithful obsess about intersexes, and about individuals who can’t produce gametes, amounts to a pathetic clutching at straws while they drown in postmodern effluent. Yes, some fish change from sperm-producing male to egg-producing female (or vice versa). That very statement relies on the gametic definition of male & female. Ditto hermaphroditic worms & snails who can produce both male & female gametes.
In any case, the existence of intersexes is irrelevant to transexualist claims, since trans people don’t claim to be intersexes. Also, as if it matters, humans are not worms, snails, or fish.
The rare tetra-amelia syndrome (babies born without limbs) does not negate the statement that Homo sapiens is a bipedal species. The rare four-winged bithorax mutation does not negate the statement that Drosophila is a Dipteran (two winged) fly. Similarly, the occasional individual who can’t produce gametes doesn’t negate the generalisation that mammals come in only two sexes, male and female, defined by games size.
Sex is binary as a matter of biological fact. "Gender" is a different matter and I leave that to others to define.
@BryceMtn@the_churchnews Not only do they not retract it, they tweet it out like they're proud of it. They're completely blind to how they look to the rest of the world.
@ashley_weston_@the_churchnews I thought the church is true BECAUSE of how you feel, isn't that right? Moroni 10:5 and all that? Newsflash, feelings are just feelings and can't tell you what is true or not.
It's sad that otherwise intelligent people buy into this obvious BS.
@PastorAlexLove You're joking right? RIGHT?? This is obviously a rocket/missile test. I lived near Edwards Air Force Base for several years and saw a few of these. Particularly awesome when set against the sunset. Jesus Fucking Christ has nothing to do with it.
