Hey #PortfolioDay I'm Matt and I love painting lush forest scenes, weird creatures, and introspective, comforting little scenes. I'm available for work right now both big and small! I'd love to do some editorial or boardgame work!

I have almost 300 hours in this game already. It’s got The Sauce more than anything I’ve played in a long long time. Super fun loop, insane art and sound direction. Shoots like Halo. idk what people’s problem is lmao it rules
I have done, and will do in the future, terrible embarrassing things for money. Just to get by. Gross, hard, demeaning jobs. Labor is labor. Doing work with AI to me is almost equivalent to scabbing. It’s a line I won’t cross. I don’t want an asterisk next to my name.
One of the most disappointing falls from grace. The upside is on the other side of this, I and a lot of other creative people will be able to hold our heads high. I can stand on my work as my own from now until forever. People like this have ruined their legacy all on their own
Couple of sketchbook pages I did in December. Working on communicating light on trees. From personal reference photos here in WVa. Holbein Acryla gouache
My Christmas present to myself. Put my teenage stereo in my studio to play music I loved then, and music I’ve discovered along the way. The vibes on these records makes me draw and paint better and I’m not even kidding
@DawidKamizela Hey man I love inventing spaceships and making models and all of that stems from a love of aviation tech I obsessed about when I was younger. This type of breakdown is really invaluable for making fake things look believable!
It’s difficult to believe in Justice these days. I’ll keep painting under the boot as long as possible. There’s nowhere else to go with my aging parents. The homeplace will endure.
I’m mainly a painter these days but lately after watching how Alien and Bladerunner got made I decided to get into making miniatures. Not much to show so far, but I made this box. It’s been in a crash I guess?
Not that it matters but I consider myself Appalachian before American. My land was one of the first to be colonized by big business, leaving us nothing but poverty and disease. The core of the opioid epidemic. There are hopeful, good people still here. still fighting.
I have to add my voice to the chorus: there is nothing more insulting, disempowering, or a surer sign that you’re working with hacks (& there are many, wedged into middle management in AAA) than receiving an AI moodboard as a concept artist, and I need to talk about it
@angus_mang@FromHappyRock This is the type of cringe a computer couldn’t possibly imagine given a billion years. Incredible loser shit man. Get your hand out of your pants for 5 seconds and join the real world
@arvalis Insanely frustrating for professionals already working but those of us who are hungry to work but don’t get emails back…idk I’m looking into other paths. There’s no way in anymore. They did it.
@tillfreitag Been a big fan of your work for a long time dude! Gonna try to sell some paintings to fund this class cause I’ve been poring over your WIPs for years lol
genuinely do not know how anyone gets professional creative gigs these days. even before the AI slop boom I struggled to find any work. I'm on earth to paint pictures, I just need the right person to see my stuff I guess
have moved 4 or 5 times for my wife's jobs so I have done a bajillion weird little jobs for years. started selling stickers and prints online and in person and since I'm good with kids I substitute teach a lot! hoping to keep making better and better paintings until I get work
