EMA submitted, B329 finished. Thanks to all the tutors and students who helped throughout this great module and made it what it was. I can now go out and enjoy the snow. #OUB329
@Olivia_flor8 Thanks Olivia, very kind of you to say. Yeah you're right, yours is a bit wider spanning, but I really enjoyed the different subtopics you used. A really nice read
Absolutely chuffed that we won the #b329leadershipchallenge for our tutor group. A tremendous effort from the Red Group and well done to everyone else who entered.

Wk 17 It's interesting to read the kind of storytelling and discourse reframing different leaders will use for the good of a cause or even to try and turn people against a group. The current strikes by varying organisations are a great example of this. #OUB329
Wk 16 Reflecting on democratic practice & leadership in my own experience. Living with all 7 of my team (wouldn't recommend) and the informal chats we'd have in the living room leading to decisions being made by everyone, as well as team culture being shaped from this #OUB329
WK15 discovering Fleming & Spicer's (2007) Power and Resistance Framework, I've worked within orgs that have used power of this type. Despite 'escaping' on more than one occasion, it took a while for me to 'refuse' or use my voice once I was confident in my own leadership #OUB329
WK14 Reflecting on place-based leadership and thinking how communities could strive to hit goals on a local level, which then contributes to a greater shared-vision on a national level. I know why this doesn't work, but it's nice to imagine what would happen if it did #OUB329
A great WK14 tutorial with Lynn Roberts yesterday morning. Talking all things Leadership Challenge and the differences between Tame, Wicked and Critical challenges which will work as effective future framework for prioritising future challenges. #OUB329
#OUB329 always nervous submitting a TMA. I did my usual routine of upload/crisis of confidence/cancel/check again/scream into the pillow/re-upload/give myself a talking to/cancel & re-upload x3/another talking to/submit/more crisis of confidence until I start the next chapter
This obviously wasn't the one thing that worked. We had many chats with all teams to discuss how best we could achieve the shared aims, without one team missing out on theirs (negative sum). Eventually we found a positive sum method that worked for all collaboratively #OUB329
Wk12 This was something I facilitated as a manager of a learning centre. We had 3 teams (teachers, sales, classroom managers) with 3 potentially competing organisational aims, yet 1 collaborative aim. We agreed on these together and signed it for accountability #OUB329
It's very apt that this week we are focusing on constructive dissent whilst strikes going on. Have the leaders in Government/Royal Mail/National Rail created a culture of destructive consent? Yet again trying to get the public to turn on those who simply want a fair wage? #OUB329
Wk 11 I agree with Grint (2005) that effective leadership should work within a heterarchy, but I do believe it is often those who are in the position to be questioned that need to create a psychologically safe space for other to feel comfortable speaking up. #OUB329
@sharank2022ou It's a tricky one. Because I like to think I'm very aware/sure of what I need in my life right now so I feel that any decision I've made it's because I've critically thought about it. But you're right, would I even know if I've been subconsciously influenced?
Wk10 Reflecting upon influence in my own life. I'm very selective of those who I allow to influence my decisions, but the small pool of people who I do allow to do so - I value greatly. This has come from renewed self belief & cutting out external, unnecessary noise #OUB329
#OUB329 Wk9 a great week exploring collaboration and how leaders can support it. I found Huxham & Vangen's (2005) activities that support collaboration interesting, but perhaps more so, 'collaborative thuggery'. Both of which I have definitely been a part of in various situations
Wk 8 #OUB329 it was great to reflect upon my own Style Effectiveness, it's always good to know where I stand in that scale and how I can become more effective as a leader.
Wk8 #OUB329 Something I tried to implement when leading a diverse team was having a shared vision that everyone had a hand in creating. Didn't matter what methods they used to get there, using experience from various cultural backgrounds - as long as it lead to achieving the goal
Wk7 #OUB329 gave some interesting discussion points. Whilst I agree that leadership identity changes with the situation & it's very important to be aware of your identity - how far does that go before you are showing an inauthentic leadership identity? People can see through this
