"Majority of Gen Z adults don’t know VE Day marks end of Second World War"
Probably because it doesn't, VE Day marks victory in Europe, not the end of the war...

@LBC@pritipatel@NickFerrariLBC But the Defence Secretary just held a press conference from Downing Street in the past hour, how can he also be in the south of France?
@CcibChris Surely fewer squadrons does not automatically mean weaker defence?
There's about 50 to 60 years between the aircraft being compared here, it's like comparing a 1960s computer (the ones that filled an entire room) with a modern laptop.
@FredWil69592839@Cazador1231@Pirat_Nation In private, no. In a business, yes.
tl;dr at home: no licence generally needed; in business/public: licence normally required.
@grow_up_america@Pirat_Nation The PRS is actually a private company, so it is not controlled by the government. However, it has a state-granted monopoly to license music and collect royalties.
The tactics it uses to do so are considered controversial by some people.
@NordVPN Still can't log in.
For reference; i have reset the app from the diagnostics tool and reinstalled the app, still getting authentication error on login.
@jessdoe2000@H___AFC@ShehabKhan I think the issue OP is highlighting is that in a lot of cases the interest being added to the account is higher than the amount being repaid so the loan balance is increasing.
@H___AFC@jessdoe2000@ShehabKhan You only pay 9% on earnings above the threshold, depending on your plan.
For example; On Plan 2 the threshold is about £28k, so if you earn £30k, then you would pay 9% on the £2k above the threshold, not your full salary.
@HadrianMusic@LBC@BenKentish The UK market has value, but what you’re proposing protects it at the expense of consumers.
Offshoring happened because companies chased cheaper production and higher profits, not because the UK lacked value.
Reform is needed, but what you’re suggesting isn’t realistic IMO.
@HadrianMusic@LBC@BenKentish You’re massively oversimplifying how the market works. In reality, consumers will bear the cost of tariffs, prices will rise and choices will become more limited. Also, not every “gap” is easily filled with a UK alternative.
@HadrianMusic@LBC@BenKentish Tariffs may protect some UK companies, but they will raise prices for consumers.
Our taxes pay for the things we need, like roads, schools and the NHS. The issue is when money isn’t spent well, or just ends up in the pockets of friends, family and/or party donors.
