@gareth_youreds@UnitedStandMUFC@JPercyTelegraph We’ll see about that. In a struggling side that only just managed to survive relegation, money talks. Your owner would rather take £75m than miss out on £100m. He’s a business man.
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is personally handling negotiations with #ManCity over Elliot Anderson and keeping other senior officials in the club in the dark, including manager Vitor Pereira.

This myth that Newcastle would’ve turned him into the 100m+ player he is now is the best myth in football right now. Not to mention they tried to swap him for Kilman 😂
City bidding £120mil for a player Newcastle had to sell to comply with FFP while still having not had a single punishment for 115 charges. On the day Everton are punished yet again for one overpayment that only occurred because of the War in Ukraine. Football has become a farce
In Elliot Anderson Forest have one of the most sought after PL players realistically available right now - he has a long contract (2029), has been one of the most effective PL players in his position over the last two seasons, and is now an England starter.
Forest have also seen Rice, Fernandez and Caicedo all move for fees north of £100m in 2023
It’s no surprise at all to me that 3 years on, and given Anderson’s ability, age, potential and contract length that Forest are asking for even more than those deals.
Whether any footballer should be worth these sums is a wider/deeper question - we can also debate whether it’s sustainable when you consider the knock on effects for other deals further down the food chain.
But Forest know they have a special talent and I guess it’s perfectly understandable that they’re going to push for top whack
Watching Elliot Anderson over the last couple of seasons (not just since he got in the Eng squad) it’s been very clear that Forest have a serious talent
He’s monstrously effective - and, for the role he plays, can be one of the very best in the world for many years to come, imo.
And this, for me, is a key thing in assessing his worth - I think his peak is a way off yet, there’s a very high ceiling - but he’s already one of the very best central-midfielders in the PL
If Mateus Fernandes is valued at £80m …. then how much on earth is Elliot Anderson worth? £100m+. Fernandes is 21, clearly full of potential but not in Anderson’s league (yet). Anderson, 23, is a special talent, strong character, can play a range of positions and there’s the England premium, too. Manchester City are interested.
Anderson's club, Nottingham Forest, are also in a stronger negotiating position than Fernandes’ West Ham who’ve been relegated and posted club record losses. If he does leave Forest, Anderson will surely be breaking Declan Rice’s record between English clubs of £105m.

There isn’t a single player on a football pitch who would naturally react like this after losing a UCL final unless he’d already thought about it beforehand for the clips.
It’s just not a normal emotional reaction. He’s so performative and it’s honestly cringe af.
