I was told early on by writers close to me that “making the lists” isn’t everything (cc @turneyduff). It was a tough notion to believe initially. Obsessively checking the lists/my sales rank was enervating. Glad this fundamental lesson is being shared more.

-Routine is everything
-Write what you can’t NOT write
-Always takes longer than you think
-No such thing as writer’s block (just insufficient research)
-Live an interesting life
-Bestseller lists don’t matter
