The joy of the Lord is my strength! I’m just a man trying to live each day for Him while loving the folks around me and cherishing the 4 ladies of my life...
With Colonel Frank A. Athanason on Utah beach commemorating the D-Day landings of June 6, 1944, remembering those who did not make it home. You may have noted from his hat that Frank served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. As John Wayne Walding and I stood with him on Utah beach, Frank told us a few stories, one of which included General Omar Bradley pinning on his Silver Star in Korea. What an honor it has been to spend time with these heroes in Normandy volunteering with the Best Defense Foundation this week. I don’t want it to end.

The largest amphibious invasion in human history began in the dark.
At dawn on June 6, 1944, nearly 7,000 vessels carrying 160,000 Allied troops closed in on the beaches of Normandy.
Through courage and sacrifice, they secured a foothold in Nazi-occupied France and began the liberation of Western Europe.
Today, we honor the heroes of D-Day.
