@Evan64m@breadophile100 your original post is spot on but disagree that Geese is a good example of this. The drums on Getting Killed are far more lively and resonant than the average indie tea towels sound. It’s one of my fav things about that album
No disrespect to the drummers and engineers of those other sounds. They take skill to achieve and fit the music well. It’s just a personal preference thing for me.
Underrated aspect of the new Geese album for me is it has some bonafide Drum Sounds—not the dampened, flat sound that has been everywhere in indie rock for the last 15 years.
I think the "new" Goose sound is working well because both drums & bass are more prominent in the sound. Ben is a great drummer but seemed relegated to the background - the rhythm section almost like a backing track. Now, there's more raw energy only drums & bass can provide!
@riverportgin This is one of my favorite phish videos ever. Looks like a borderline mosh pit. There are more dynamic melts but I love the energy of this one https://t.co/P1csXV5TzK
@itsyaboytarantu@JakeSilco12 It sounds good but don’t actually like that Trey made page go back to a previous idea mid jam. Think 1990 Trey would be furious at this behavior
Unlike a to-do list which brings only stress and uncompromising demands, a to-do-loo inspires one to intersperse within the day’s tasks a dash of whimsy and possibly even tomfoolery
