@RachelReevesMP National building service - bring apprenticeships for trades together and produce tradespeople working for a service with centralised procurement and planning for new homes? Reduce costs while aiming to build long term homes instead of short term snag filled developments?
@StuartHoddinott How do we class "real terms" for spending in health. Often seen as a purely vs "financial inflation" issue, funding never seems to be scored in terms of the much more nebulous "demand inflation" which is far more important in a socialised health setting
@AlexHartley93@NoBallsTCP Happy retirement, you're great on TMS, especially when ribbing the old boys and nice to have some proper northern representation on there too. Hope to listen to you for many years to come
@SteveBarclay@DHSCgovuk@TheSun Neither fair nor reasonable in the context of years of wage stagnation. The strikes are something you are actually choosing by refusing to negotiate. Remind me, how much have MP salaries increased since 2008?
@NickTriggle And that's a rate that includes significant evening and weekend cover as well as having to pay overheads such as parking, professional registration, courses, exams etc.
@NickTriggle You've mentioned the 30% extras for juniors implying that those are within the basic pay bundle. The basic pay is for 40 hours per week, the "30%" as you put it isn't just for unsociable hours but also to take them up to 48 hours. As such the adjusted figure would he ยฃ15.10p/h
@NickTriggle No sign of end to the pension tax trap Hunt himself proclaimed as harmful to NHS staffing. Looks like senior consultants will continue to retire early rather than pay to work.
@grantshapps Perhaps if serious offers were tabled then this might be considered. Unfortunately all it would mean is the boss"barons" would use teeny increments in offers as a way of frustrating the negotiations.
Not so long ago Tory MPs walked out of their jobs to get the change they wanted
@CPJElmore@Conservatives Never seen anyone drinking alcohol in the staffroom during 14 years working in NHS. The insinuation that this was happening shows how blind Fabricant is to reality - and worryingly an opinion that this is normal behaviour for professionals in the workplace.
@Keir_Starmer But they won't because they have no integrity and the parliamentary standards committee has no real teeth. I dont actually mind there being parties or what have you. It is the utter lack of probity, candour, integrity and remorse continually exhibited which I can't stand.
@Mike_Fabricant seriously? Teachers and nurses drink in the staffroom at the end of a shift? If they did they would be sacked. Perhaps we should hold our politicians to the same professional standards we expect of the rest of our public servants instead.
@Jeremy_Hunt Have you tried looking in a mirror Jeremy? Your tenure as health Secretary produced one of the most toxic environments for those joining the health service and you must bear a significant amount of responsibility for this situation you now try to highlight.
@Jeremy_Hunt Tories have promised serious workforce plans and promised increased staff numbers and failed again and again. Your own tenure was one of the most demoralising for my generation. The above is just another attempt to kick the can down the road. Pay staff well and they will stay.
