@DrAlexFord It will be interesting to see what kind of BNG requirement these projects throw up, or whether regulators will take a more pragmatic view. Asking for a friend of course.
@DrAlexFord Hi Alex, keen to get your thoughts on the potential conflict between preventing further erosion of dangerous material and the loss of intertidal habitats through protecting these former landfills, typically in the form of rock armour.
@JWAbdelmoez@WoWGradStudent@BanerjeeShonali@StinaLindegren@AcademicChatter I think Joel has got this right. I did a self-funded PhD and had to pay fees and work at the same time to afford to live, it was pretty hard and. There were quite a few other phds in the same boat as me and not everyonefinished. I think this route is more common than people think
@AltAcChats Did a PhD in Marine Ecology, I'm now a Principal Aquatic Ecologist at an Engineering company. Moving from academia to industry was the best move of my career.
Interested in doing a fully funded PhD with me? Want to tackle climate change & conduct coastal surveys of carbon-rich nursery ecosystems for the purpose of conservation & creating fully restored protected areas? Then please look at the link below:-https://t.co/76jevEq7fl
@opwall@marine_conserve I'm an aquatic ecologist working in consultancy, so assess anything from impacts of developments on fish migration to size of maturity of shellfish in fisheries.
@MegapteraBellis Some consultancies do research, but it depends upon the application and ultimately what the client wants. It also wouldn't be the main focus of the role, but a part of it.
