Given the shortages with amoxicillin suspension I thought it would be worthwhile to compare alternative antibiotic therapies for PNA (i.e., increased risk of more resistant/higher MIC Strep Pneumoniae) and why you should choose cefprozil >>> cefdinir

Cefdinir is poorly absorbed and highly protein bound. Time > MIC is suboptimal ==> not recommended for CAP.

*Cefdinir does not equal ceftriaxone. It isn't a step up for failed amoxicillin or amoxicillin-clavulanate.

I will never understand why it is so hard for people to grasp that #doctor does NOT equal #physician. I have never claimed to be a physician, but I am a doctor. As are my friends with PhDs. This is not a debate - it’s literally factual information. #PharmD #TwitteRx

@sooperjordan @abbeysuekos Pharmacists are NOT doctors and shouldn’t act like they are. They also do not get to say what is and what is not an appropriate prescription with 0 info on the patient especially since it’s prescribed by an actual medical doctor. Read about things before speaking perhaps
