Here's Why James Garner Wouldn't Use '79 Firebirds On 'The Rockford Files'
Back in the ‘70s, actor James Garner starred as L.A.’s slickest P.I. in the hit series “The Rockford Files.” And for gearheads, one of the most memorable parts of the show was Jim Rockford’s iconic gold Pontiac Firebird. However, there was one model year James completely avoided.
Funny you should mention that because, that actually happened to thousands of people!
So many folks recognized him, no matter what car he was driving. He loved to drive!
@MavrocksGirl How awesome it would have been pulling up to a red light in LA in the 70s and this handsome guy in a cool van gives you a smile and a wink then the light turns green?
@MavrocksGirl Could you explain to me why your dad held the arm of every woman when they walked in scene. He even did it with a few men. My wife and I still watch the reruns and laugh about it. I do it to her sometimes just for fun. I figure its some sort of chivalry move.
Here is James Garner photographed outside his house on the driveway with van.
A well liked man and loved by his family.
The Rockford Files - private investigator - was a fabulous series.
I loved it.
⚠️ ROAD CLOSURE AT WESTWARD BEACH
Additional erosion has undermined the roadway and exposed a County water main west of ongoing active emergency revetment work.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department has closed Westward Beach Road between the Birdview cul-de-sac and the west corner of The Sunset Restaurant. Please avoid the closed area and follow traffic control instructions.
A contractor for LA County is using equipment and materials already on site to help prevent further erosion and damage. City maintenance crews are assisting with traffic control.
As a precaution, Water District 29 will temporarily shut off water service, affecting The Sunset Restaurant.
The City will continue assessing conditions throughout the night to determine when the road can safely reopen.
Surprised to catch The Most Interesting Man in the World, Jonathan Goldsmith, on this 1978 episode of the Rockford Files entitled "The Empty Frame." #Rockford#JamesGarner
