Karen O wrote "Maps" inspired by her boyfriend of the time, Angus Andrew (Liars singer), with whom she lived a troubled and long-distance relationship - the two bands were always on tour.
The striking line "They don't love you like I love you" came from an email she sent him.
The video, directed by Patrick Daughters, is legendary: Karen O cries real tears at the end of the performance. Angus was late for hours on set and she was about to go on tour; when he showed up, the excitement really overflowed.
Released as the third single from Fever to Tell, it became the biggest Yeah Yeah Yeahs hit to date (#9 on Billboard's Alternative Songs). It is considered one of the best songs of the 2000s by Pitchfork (#6) and Rolling Stone (#7), and voted the best "alternative love song" of all time by NME on a dedicated list.
Miami Vice Theme: Jan Hammer (1985). I'm just going to assume that Jan played the music live for every episode, wearing a silk suit with rolled up sleeves. Every time he tried to escape they caught him and dragged him back to the studio.
In June 2000, Robin Williams sat down for a conversation with George Lucas for Robin's brief weekly interview show on audible. The episode was originally thirty minutes but below you'll find the entire raw recording from two different sessions, with discussions ranging from Marlon Brando as Jabba the Hutt, to Lucas asking if Robin would voice a CG Howard the Duck for a special edition of the '86 movie 👏 Really cool
Willem Dafoe has lived in the same SoHo loft since 1983. Despite four decades of stardom, he’s known for walking everywhere, taking the subway, and moving through New York like any other local. 🎬
Tom Hulce only knew how to play the guitar before shooting. Miloš Forman said they could cheat it, but it would be good if he learned how to play the piano. Hulce spent six hours a day for six months learning how to play the piano, and every Mozart symphony that was in the film.
Amadeus (1984)
This Commando (1985) scene is hilarious
Why doesn’t Arnie just open the phone box door?
Why is Michael Jackson sprinting out of the bar?
Why do the guards keep running into Arnie’s fists, and why does an entire army of them work there?
God, I love this film.
