The Death of NFTs (and why you should still pay attention)
Alright, gather around degens. Time for some uncomfortable truths about our precious jpegs.
Remember NFTs? Those magical internet pictures that were supposed to make us all rich? Yeah, about that...
Let me paint you a picture of where we are today:
99% of NFT projects launched in the last 3 years are either:
- Soft rugs by 19-year-olds who watched one Gary Vee video and thought "how hard can running a business be?"
- Serial grifters launching their 47th project under a new alias because apparently "DegenApe Yacht Squad" wasn't obvious enough
The other 1%? Well, they're trying their best while swimming in a sea of disappointment and broken promises.
Remember when you paid $200 in gas to mint (or fail to mint) a $50 jpeg that's now worth approximately... *checks notes*... $0.73?
Remember that guy who bought a BAYC for 300 ETH when ETH was at ATH? I hope he really likes his monkey picture because that's a REALLY expensive profile pic.
The "utility" most projects promised? A Discord channel where 12 people say "gm" every morning and the occasional Twitter Space where the founder explains why the roadmap is delayed for the 8th time.
Look, I'm not here to dance on graves (OKAY maybe a little), but we need to be honest about what killed NFTs:
- Zero actual business experience from founders
- Promises of "building the next Disney" with a team of 3 college dropouts
- "Utility" that was just more NFTs
- Communities built on hopium instead of actual value
The market needed to flush. And flush it did.
BUT...
And here's where it gets interesting.
Every now and then, when everyone's given up and moved on to the next shiny thing, something real emerges from the ashes.
I've been in this space long enough to know the difference between another cash grab and something built by people who actually know what they're doing.
ENTER KODE (@kodehouse)
First things first - this isn't some anonymous team promising to "revolutionize web3" from their mom's basement. The artist? Ex-Ferrari team lead for 7 years. The rest of the core team? Each one has already made it in their respective industries. We're talking people who've worked at the highest levels of luxury automotive, fashion , auditing, running big companies, investing, brand identity, marketing and whatever- not just kids who once bought a Supreme hoodie.
They're building on Solana (because honestly, Solana needs something fresh that isn't another derivative PFP), and the numbers are actually insane:
- 7 different breeds (Human, Unknown, Giorgio, Sintiq, Panda, Bubblehead, Lady)
- Over 1,900 traits across ~10,000 NFTs
- Each breed has its own lore and backstory
That trait count alone is unheard of on Solana. Most projects slap together 150 traits and call it "diverse."
But here's what actually got my attention - they're not selling you dreams of a metaverse that'll never exist. They're building a luxury lifestyle brand that happens to start with NFTs.
Year 1-2 roadmap includes:
- Limited edition Restomod vehicles (these guys actually know how to build cars)
- Yearly luxury clothing drops (not print-on-demand hoodies)
- Physical collectibles and exclusive furniture pieces
The NFT isn't the product. It's your membership card to an expanding ecosystem of actual, physical luxury goods. Products designed by people who've worked at the highest levels of automotive and fashion.
And before you ask - no, I'm not getting paid for this. I'm the community manager because I actually believe in what they're building. After watching 1000+ projects promise the moon and deliver dust, it's refreshing to work with adults who understand business.
They're keeping some stuff under wraps (apparently there are two additional ventures - one B2C, one C2B - but that's founder announcement territory), which honestly is smart. Better to underpromise and overdeliver than the other way around.
Look, I'll keep it real with you: 99% of NFTs are still trash. The gold rush is over. The tourists have left.
But if you're smart, you know that's exactly when the real opportunities appear.
Projects built by people with actual experience. Brands that understand luxury and exclusivity. Teams that don't need to exit scam because they're already successful.
That's KODE.
We're still in pre-mint, so I can't spill everything. But if you've been waiting for a project that isn't run by children, built by people who understand both web3 AND real-world business, on a chain that desperately needs quality...
Well, now you know it exists.
The choice is yours. You can sit on the sidelines crying about your bags from 2021, or you can recognize when something different comes along.
Me? I'm not missing this one.
And remember - this isn't financial advice.
This is just my conviction play for the next few years.
Do your own research. Check the team. Look at the art. Join the community and see if it's different.
Or don't. More alpha for the rest of us.
Stay safe out there.
With love , yours dear :
-Kode Senpai (Ex-ToiletSenpai)
P.S. - If you're one of those serial grifters planning your next rug, please kindly fuck off. We're trying to build something real here.
Oh I forgot ! I promised to reveal a 1/1 from the collection. Here it is!
