Writer, Geek, Professional Dungeon Master, Gamer, Journalist, Psychologist-in-training. Most definitely a vampire. Convinced that dragons exist. He/Him.
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
Nowadays all I see are posts clearly generated entirely by AI. Some people try to hide it a bit but it's so obvious. It's depressing af that you need AI to even make a social media post.
Bruh. Dead internet theory coming alive before my very eyes.
All of this for an industry that steals, pollutes and violates privacy and consent. You had all the resources to channel this to the artists this tech steals from, the environmentalists undoing its damage, the communities violated by it, and instead you choose this. Fuck you.
Being in social work has really shown me clearly how Singapore has fast-tracked its way into late stage capitalism and now just before our 60th independence day, the cracks are clearer than ever.
Someone really decided to make irl gacha with no hard pity in PopMart and people really fell for it, hook line and sinker.
Late Stage capitalism and mindless fucking consumerism, people!
I know not many people on here care, but after 10 years of collecting I finally got the black dragon to complete the chromatic collection.
Now you can call me Tiamat cause all the infinity stones (dragon) are mine. 🥹
Call-out post for that fuckass place is always more and more tempting everytime I see something like today but...I think I'm also content with knowing that this is the biggest they'd ever be, that this is the most they'd ever amount to in their miserable lives.
just last night I saw a video of a girl explaining that men are losing empathy, basic moral value and being more conservative because they have started devaluing subjects like literature, sociology, humanities and arts in general.
thinking "we have to protect our mother" about the earth after going on a vanity space flight funded by a billionaire whose company is destroying said planet is just so funny, she's got jokes
