Disappointing finish, undoubtedly. Never should have played today. But four regional finals in 4 straight seasons is not a collapse, especially with a historically irrelevant program. It’s frustrating but it’s a program on the rise in the toughest conference in the country.
@DerekSTerry 100%. That’s the catching style that has been accepted in baseball recently. I miss the days when catchers took pride in keeping every possible ball in front of them. ESPECIALLY with 2 strikes on a hitter and runner on.
The only way I see the arms holding up for tomorrow for UK. Start Cleaver. If he doesn’t have it you roll Mattison out anyway. They combine for 5. Jelkin gets the rest. If you get deeper than that, one walk and they’re out. Best man up gets the ball.
4 looking k’s with runners in scoring position w/ less than 2 outs. 10 BB. Faked a pick off to 1B 🤯. The 9th. A culmination of factors led to this. Good news is they have one more chance! Winners find a way. Get it done tomorrow and this game gets joked about in the future.
@CBCJakeMck I agree. I keep looking at #’s and can’t see where he would have fallen through. I can’t see the deciding factor for Rembert but not Lawrence. Not sure where he would fall on the list but top 10 BA is a tough name to keep off.
Arrambide got caught in a Catcher heavy year.
.@UKBaseball's trio of Nate Harris (4-2, 4.22 ERA), Nic McCay (5-0, 4.37) and Ben Cleaver (6-3, 3.51) earns the nod for best starting rotation in the Clemson Regional.
All three are holding opposing hitters under a .240 batting average 👀
RHP Nic McCay (@UKBaseball) competed & ran it up to 94, sat 91-93 w/ DH angle. CB was the go-to in 77-80 range & CH was consis as well.
Sr./'25 elig.
🆕 Persistence paying off for Kentucky’s Nic McCay
Nic McCay has developed into a centerpiece of the @UKBaseball pitching staff, but his star turn in the SEC almost didn’t happen.
