@SBakerMD 200 was max healthy number back in the 80’s then lowered to 180 and further lowered (to sell more statins ostensibly not to improve our health).
"You're going to have a s**t season... are you going to fire Mike Elko that brought you to the playoff last year? NO."
A message to Texas A&M fans amidst the team's struggles ⬇️

TEXAS A&M: Defense had a few guys stand out up front but collectively just not always on same page. 5 had wins inside. Had to add DBs to the run game, good from the alleys, not great from middle of field. Too many DL reached on stretch play. Over ran it at 2nd level some. 11 did good things inside. Had good pressure packages. 18 batted balls. Too many missed tackles in space. 15 played tough on the edges. Seemed worn down late. 0 runs twice as big as he is. Love his grit. QB missed layups. Had pressure in face at times. Liked moving the picked. Seemed like a little more commitment to the run game. 54 good pulling. Too many throws in low red zone. Drops hurt. Confusion on pressures between OL & RBs at times.
Thanks @TheKellenMond for providing great insight and a dose of reality to the Maroon and White faithful (for free imagine that!). @jharrisfootball will be a great listen this week as well.
I love the honesty and this actually happens quite a bit.
Most offenses and defenses look good in the offseason, fall camp, and spring ball. But the difference in an actual game is your ability to stack drives and sustain execution (which rarely gets replicated in practice).
A lot of teams don’t do enough unscripted, move the ball work in practice. Scripted 3rd down / redzone periods are great, but they don’t always replicate the flow and unpredictability of a game.
Game day exposes which offenses and defenses truly understand situations, timely play calling and details of a play.
It comes down to several things:
Can the playcaller put his players in a position to execute?
Can all 11 players operate in unison and execute their assignments?
Are the coaches and players prepared for what the opposing team might do and can they adjust when the opponent shows something that wasn’t on film?
And ultimately, can the players process that information and play instinctively?
That’s where preparation, situational awareness, and execution come together. It’s one thing to execute a play when you know what’s coming. It’s another to do it consistently when the game becomes unpredictable.
Must be able to put drives together. Not just for points, but for field position.
@Travis_L_Brown@billyliucci@BrentZwerneman The Eagle needs someone to fill Cessna’s shoes and Chronicle needs a Richard Justice, Ed Fowler type to fill BZ’s shoes. BZ - you wrote great stories - thank you!
@billyliucci@Travis_L_Brown@lukeevangelist_@DavidNuno@TexAgs@kbtxsports The team always believes the sunshine y’all are piping; it’s a one gorilla town and y’all don’t dare be honest and make the gorilla mad. Don’t let Billy’s cesspool take the fall - do your job - be fair and be tough when warranted. We need more than shrugs and victimhood guys.
@michaelschwab13 Especially when you consider Alex Cora became his manager in 2018. There are no coincidences nor arguing with data. And LAD embraced him
@billyliucci I got this response from AI:
Texas A&M has not won a conference championship since Billy Liucci started TexAgs. because the team has struggled with consistency and has faced tough competition in the SEC. The last time they won a national championship was in 1939. CYa Looch!
@SanAntonioTim If ‘27 is a strike holdout with no playing season - then we should go with Martin Maldonado bench coach and Omar Lopez head coach with Altuve as a player-coach. I’ll go with Maldonado’s instincts above Ausmus’. Ausmus and Bagwell are dinosaurs - different era now.
