"I used to think that if there was reincarnation, I wanted to come back as the president or the pope or as a .400 baseball hitter. But now I would like to come back as the bond market. You can intimidate everybody."
- James Carville
"Arbitrage offers a unique, low-risk way to diversify and protect an investment portfolio..." says Mr. Dowle, who has run merger-arbitrage strategies for more than a dozen years at his firm. “Bonds have historically offered similar characteristics, but they arguably don’t today.”
The pessimist looks down and hits his head. The optimist looks up and loses his footing. The realist looks forward and adjusts his path accordingly.”

“Risk and time are opposite sides of the same coin, for if there were no tomorrow there would be no risk. Time transforms risk, and the nature of risk is shaped by the time horizon: the future is the playing field.”

While the current market and its challenges are different, I'm starting to be reminded of what it felt like managing risk, hunting for opps and investing during/coming out of 2008-09.

“There is always something to do. You just need to look harder, be creative and a little flexible.”
– Irving Kahn (1905-2015)

QOTW:
"Things that perform poorly will eventually become so cheap – due to depreciation and lack of investor interest – that they’ll be primed to outperform. Cycles like these hold the key to success, not trees that everyone is assuming will grow to the sky. "
- Howard Marks
QOTW:
“Far more money has been lost by investors preparing for corrections, or trying to anticipate corrections, than has been lost in corrections themselves.”
– Peter Lynch
