2. Even if that were the case it was to prepare the boys to protect themselves from demons because Sparda is aware of the huge target on his back, so he knows he can't afford to become complacent
@tchallasbeard Vergil mentioned that Dante would cry whenever their father raised his voice; that's not abuse
I've already explained why that isn't abusive if that actually happened and sorry you had a rough childhood but that's irrelevant to Dante and Vergil's situation because you're not them

@RipYa3NewOnes We have no confirmation that he was in their lives at all since neither Dante nor Vergil has any memories of him and Sparda never put any measures in place to protect his family
@tchallasbeard@Critical_Scribe And he didn't leave any measures in place to keep his family safe when he left and no canon Sparda wasn't abusive to his children and even if he was that's a whataboutism
@tchallasbeard@92BearVegas@Critical_Scribe I highly doubt we'll get anything substantive regarding the truth about him, given what we know about him paints him in a bad light, but I'd love to be proven wrong
@tchallasbeard@Critical_Scribe Sparda was never in their lives nor did he leave any proper measures to protect his family, he is a deadbeat and saying they're the sons of Eva after being called sons of Sparda is them denying their demon lineage, which is jarring considering they're in DT while saying this
@Kelvininred It completely deviates from the games, it's an objectively terrible story on its own, good scenes in isolation don't make it amazing and I'd rather have nothing if the new things are slop
@PyroMaker3 By giving Vergil an op feat that retroactively damages this scene but it's going to make him too op so he's going to get over nerfed again, rinse and repeat
@HeyYakissoba In S1 we see Dante move so fast that time slowed down from his pov and Vergil is supposed to be around the same power lvl as Dante, so add this to the long list of inconsistencies in this series
@Emlls1@DANT3DT Their relationship is platonic at the end of DMC3 onwards and the anime isn't canon to the games
So going off of the anime they have no chemistry in any of their scenes together
