It's really cool that DeviantArt, Tumblr, Twitter, AO3, etc fostered a worldwide class of excellent artists who are now coming of age and starting indie studios in countries across the Global South.
It originated in 1995 when Sega and other companies released "Purikura" (photo booths)—now synonymous with Japan's "Kawaii culture." The novelty of being able to easily create affordable stickers sparked an instant craze among *kogal* girls who loved self-expression.
my theatre was well behaved outside of the occasional laugh. then Shiori said “you thought you were the only one who could turn into a car?” and the crowd started laugh applauding like it was the ending of 22 Jump Street. 10/10 experience please put it back in theatres next year.
